How was everyone’s summer? Hopefully it was filled with waves, solid weather, and great company. As we are talking to you from Costa Mesa, CA, let us tell you about ours. The summer gloom stayed a little too long for our liking, and there was less large surf activity than a normal summer. Early August we had our first and only tropical swell, and we could typically get up to four or five. The window isn’t over, but each day it’s getting closer to shutting.
The good news is that the water was warm, and stayed warm, for most of the summer. This means we got to rock our board shorts for almost the whole season, rather than just the usual august and september sessions. And while there weren’t many days of large surf, it was a rather consistent summer, with plenty of chest to head high days on offer.
Times change, seasons change, weather patterns change, and swell directions change. With all this taken into account, we decided it was the right to change up the products on the site. We aren’t deviating from our usual winners: tees, boardies, hats, fleece, you get the picture. But rather update the colors and prints while introducing some brand new items. Take a scroll below to see some of the new goods that have landed since our last drop.
We get such rave reviews on our tees, so we knew better not to switch up the construction or fit of them. Instead, we looked to get some different color blanks and some graphics that would adorn them well. This season we see white, off white, black, navy, gray, and olive as the background colors for the tees. Easy to match colors that go with anything. We threw probably our most forward graphics atop these tees, really bringing out the edge to match our brand's vibe and aesthetic. We think you’ll love them and want one of each.
Much like the tees, we leaned on easy to wear colors and bold graphics. You can find classic front back hits, with some subtle switch ups to create a unique fleece. They are a mid-weight pullover fleece, making them warm enough but not too heavy. We also re-introduced the crew neck back into the line with the strummer fleece, a real punk rock lockup that we love internally. Find it on the crew, tee, and a hat.
Much like the tees, our board shorts also have a tried and true reputation of classic fit and feel. Not wanting to stray away from this, we added a 18” floral and a 20” snow camouflage to our rotation of board shorts. Make sure to grab a pair of these to update your IPD rotation or grab your first pair to feel the difference between us versus them.
For this go around, we did two hats we know people love: a black rope trucker and a black beanie. If you have a keen memory, you’ll remember a couple minutes ago we mentioned the strummer graphic. We threw this embroidery on a hat to complete the fleece and tee collection. Our Gully Beanie is an essential everyone is going to need going into those colder months. A comfortable and warm fit means this is going to be your companion on your next cold weather trip, early morning surf check, or daily worn hat to help cover up the bed head.
Our newest silhouette for the latest drop of good. Some longtime fans might recall the Dexter Jacket, a work inspired flannel collard gas station jacket. It had a pretty deep, core fan base, and people had been asking for the next rendition. This is where the Bandit Jacket comes in. Olive green, contrast white stitch, and a bold logo. The perfect layering piece or going out on the town jacket in SoCal.
There you have it, our newest drop of goods, live now. With every new drop of gear, we accompany it with brand new visuals. This product offering felt really at home in our HQ’s town of Costa Mesa, CA. Situated where the station is, this town is all things surfing, skateboarding, and music, with a blue collar twist thanks to all the garages and factories on the west side. We (tried) to surf the small waves we’ve been cursed with, cruised around some locations close to HQ (rest in peace, minute king), and then hit a heavy skate session at the best local skatepark. We are stoked to roll out the imagery and a new video with this drop of goods, so keep your eyes peeled to our socials to check out all the action.
