Last year, there was a lot of skateboarding going on at HQ over the summer. Groms adorned in IPD
tees,
board shorts, and
shirts all gathered on Thursdays to chomp on hotdogs and rip around our DIY skatepark. We would constantly have a crowd, people always came hungry, and almost every time there was a slam or two. The best part for us was seeing generations all connecting over skateboarding. On the deck of the mini ramp you could find groms under the age of 10, teens, people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50s, all cheering each other on and sharing the stoke of one board with four wheels.
Hotdogs and Handrails was such a hit that we had to run it back for a second summer. Last year we did every Thursday, this year we are doing every other Thursday. The hotdogs will still be given out, along with stickers and hoots for the best trick stuck that night. You can bring a water cup, but otherwise it’s a BYOB policy (beers are welcome for those 21+). Don’t be afraid to rock some IPD board shorts, shirts, flannels, cord walk shorts, or even fleece for when the sun might not be out. See y’all this Thursday (the first session is 6/13, and then will alternate).
